Your 3-day journey begins at 9:00 AM with pickup from your Errachidia accommodation. We travel south toward the Sahara. Our first stop offers panoramic views of the stunning Ziz Valley. This area is known for its enormous palm plantations. The lush groves contrast dramatically with the arid mountains. After that, we continue through Aoufous to Erfoud. This town is renowned for its fossils and annual date festival. Here, you have the option to visit a local fossil craft workshop. Ancient marine treasures are transformed into beautiful decorative pieces there. Then we proceed to the edge of the captivating Erg Chebbi dunes. These are also known as the Merzouga dunes.
Upon arrival, you embark on a camel trek into the golden sands. The ride lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. We stop atop a high dune to witness a spectacular desert sunset. Try sandboarding if you wish. Capture incredible photos of the shifting light. Your camel ride then continues to your desert camp. You will be welcomed with traditional mint tea. After that, enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner. Live Berber drumming around a campfire follows. Marvel at the brilliant, star-filled sky above. Retire to your comfortable nomadic tent for the night.
Wake early to experience a magical Saharan sunrise. The first light paints the dunes in soft pink and gold. After breakfast, you have the opportunity to shower at the camp. Then you return by camel or 4WD vehicle to meet your driver. We continue our desert tour towards the Dades Valley. Along the way, we visit the traditional market in Rissani. This market operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Sundays. It is the historical cultural center of the Tafilalet region. The souk is lively and renowned for its authenticity.
Subsequently, we travel toward Tinghir through Berber villages. We stop to admire the beautiful Todra Valley. Its extensive palm groves are striking. Then we proceed to the impressive Todra Gorge. Here, you can stroll down the slender canyon bottom. Limestone cliffs tower 300 metres overhead. Following lunch (not included), we journey via Boumalne Dades. Meanwhile, we take in the sweeping bends of the mountain roads. The distinctive “Monkey Fingers” rock formations appear. Thereafter, we check into your hotel or riad. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in the scenic Dades Valley.
On the final day, depart the Dades Valley towards Marrakech. We pass through Kalaat M’gouna first. This is the heart of Morocco’s Rose Valley. It is famous for its May Rose Festival and organic rose production. Then we continue along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” This route takes us through the Skoura palm grove. Here, you may explore the exquisitely preserved Kasbah Amridil. This kasbah dates from the 17th century.
Subsequently, we wrap up this section in Ouarzazate. This city is known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” You will visit the historic Taourirt Kasbah there. There is also an optional stop at the Atlas Film Studios. This is the setting for well-known films like The Mummy and Gladiator. Afterward, we start the afternoon at Aït Benhaddou. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is an old, walled clay city. This breathtaking area has been used as the setting for blockbuster movies like Game of Thrones.
After exploration and lunch (not included), we ascend the High Atlas Mountains. Our route follows the Tizi n’Tichka pass. We reach a height of 2,260 meters. Savor expansive views of the mountains. Make time to explore nearby Argan oil cooperatives. These are run by Berber women. By late afternoon, we descend into the plains. We reach the busy imperial city of Marrakech. You will be transferred to your hotel or riad. Your 3-day adventure concludes here.
